Scratch-off wins: $5M for Central Islip man, $1M for Brentwood woman

|

A Brentwood man and a Central Islip woman have claimed $6 million in prizes from playing New York Lottery’s scratch-off games.

Noel Hernandez Fuentes of Central Islip this month claimed his top prize of $5 million on the Set For Life scratch-off game. Rather than receiving “$5,000 a week for life,” he chose to receive his prize as a one-time lump sum payment of $2.34 million after required tax withholdings.

Hernandez Fuentes’ lucky ticket was purchased at USA Quick Mart, which is located at 44 East Suffolk Ave. in Central Islip.

Last week, Stephanie Fitzgerald of Brentwood claimed her top prize on the $1,000,000 Bonus Word Cashword scratch-off game. She settled for a single, lump sum payment of $651,000 after taxes.

Fitzgerald’s winning ticket was purchased at Shoprite in Bay Shore, located at 1905 Sunrise Highway.
