Ride-sharing services like Uber have just exploded in places like Patchogue since Suffolk authorized ride sharing this past June.
So we reached out to Uber, curious about the most frequented Patchogue destinations.
The folks in San Francisco got back with the Top 5 spots (to and fro) for people traveling within Patchogue’s 11772 zip code.
The list is below, in order:
- That Meetball Place
- The Tap Room
- Patchogue train station
- Arooga’s
- Public House 49
This list is based on trips that originated and ended in this specific zip code, according to Uber. So, basically, it’s where the locals go.
Meanwhile, The Tap Room created a buzz last week in Patchogue after Newsday released a Top 10 list of island-wide Uber destination favorites. The Patchogue hot spot was the only bar or restaurant to crack a list otherwise dominated by train stations, malls and the Garden City Hotel.
“We have a great customer base and . . . we are very busy,” Tap Room co-owner James Bonanno told Newsday.
Uber didn’t have numbers readily available to show which Patchogue destinations were busiest for trips outside the 11772 zip code. But, they did know that the longest trip from the area was to Coventry, R.I., at 203 miles. And, they said, the average driver rating within the zip was 4.84.
“More and more, Long Islanders are choosing to leave their cars at home and take Uber to the train station, ferry terminal, stores, local bars and restaurants — which can free up parking for better use such as much-needed housing and open space,” said Uber spokesperson Danielle Filson.
