Selden father gets 25 years for decade of sexual abuse against daughter

A Selden father will spend decades behind bars for sexually abusing his own daughter for years — starting when she was just 5 years old.

Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced the 25-year prison sentence Tuesday, which he said also carries 20 years of post-release supervision. Authorities are not naming the 47-year-old father, in an effort to protect the identity of the victim.

Supreme Court Justice Timothy Mazzei handed down the punishment following a bench trial in September 2025, where the defendant was convicted of first- and second-degree course of sexual conduct against a child.

Prosecutors established that the abuse began in the summer of 2015 and continued until the defendant moved out of the family home. Each assault carried out while the girl’s mother was away, Tierney said.

The defendant was arrested in April 2024 following an investigation by Suffolk Police.

The survivor kept the secret for years before finally telling school officials, an act of courage Tierney specifically highlighted in his announcement.

“It is unconscionable that a father would subject his own daughter to years of such disgusting acts of sexual abuse,” Tierney said.

“Our hearts go out to the victim who was extremely brave in coming forward after everything that she endured,” he continued, “and we will continue to provide unwavering support for her as she navigates the path to healing from this egregious crime.”
