One more slice for Levittown as Vincenzo’s Pizzeria plans to reopen

Just when Levittown thought it had seen the last slice from Vincenzo’s Pizzeria, the restaurant delivered one more surprise.

It’s coming back.

The pizzeria served what were supposed to be its final customers on Halloween after eight years in the CVS shopping center on Wantagh Avenue. But a sale fell through, and owner Garret Klein is preparing to reopen.

“We had a buyer, an agreed-upon price, and a closing date set for Monday, November 2,” Klein wrote on Facebook. “Long story short, the buyers backed out.”

An Islanders fan, Klein joked that the John Spano ownership fiasco of the late 1990s should have taught him not to celebrate a sale before it closed.

“So, after further review… VINCENZO’S IS BACK,” he announced.

Klein plans to make updates to the shop and introduce several menu items that have been in the works. He has not announced a reopening date.

The news drew cheers from customers.

“Glad to hear the good news! Can’t wait till you are back! Woo hoo,” Patricia Carlozzi commented on Facebook.

“Great news!! Wishing you a thriving re-start,” Elizabeth Bonavita added.

Klein said the outpouring of support surrounding the restaurant’s announced closure, including messages and visits, reminded him how much his customers and the community mean to him.

“We watched kids grow up, head off to college, graduate, and start the next chapters of their lives,” he previously wrote on Facebook. “Somewhere in the middle of making their dinner, we got to become a small part of their story. That’s a pretty special thing.”

Updates on the shop, menu additions and reopening will be shared on Facebook, Klein said.

“I can’t promise forever,” he wrote. “I can promise we’re putting everything we’ve got into making this the best version of Vincenzo’s yet.”
