Police arrested a 53-year-old Selden man after a father caught him allegedly taking photos up the skirt of the dad’s 13-year-old daughter in a store aisle at Target.
Aqeel Ahmad is accused of bending down and using his cell phone to take pictures under the teen’s dress while she was browsing greeting cards inside the Selden store. The alleged incident happened about 2 p.m. on Oct. 19, a Sunday.
Ahmad was immediately confronted by the girl’s father, who witnessed the behavior, police said. When the suspect bolted for the exit, the father called police.
Suffolk Police detectives tracked Ahmad down nine days later, arresting him about 6:40 p.m. Tuesday inside his car near the intersection of College Road and Galaxie Lane in Selden.
Ahmad is charged with second-degree unlawful surveillance and endangering the welfare of a child, authorities said. He was being held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
