Family of Selden man murdered near Stony Brook Harbor seeks help

|

The family of the Selden man found murdered this week in Stony Brook launched a GoFundMe on Wednesday to help cover funeral expenses.

Christopher Millwater, 52, was killed Monday near Stony Brook Harbor, police said. Just two days before his death, Millwater posted an eerie note on Facebook: “Plenty of time to rest when I’m dead so now it’s a quick shower and gym time.”

His sister, Corinne Millwater, said in a message on the fundraising page that her brother was a dependable man who friends and family could always rely on for help.

“Those of you who know him know that he showed up for anyone in need,” she wrote.

The GoFundMe has raised $1,750 from 15 donations during its first five hours.

Funeral services for Millwater are scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 16, from 2–4 p.m. and 7–9 p.m. at Giove Funeral Home in Selden.

Suffolk County Police continue to investigate Millwater’s death. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Homicide Squad at 631.852.6392 or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1.800.220.TIPS.
