Family and friends of an Oceanside mother of three who died while vacationing with her daughters in the Dominican Republic will gather Sunday for funeral services in her hometown.
Kathrine Randazzo, 55, fell ill during the family’s trip this month in the Caribbean and was hospitalized, according to a close family friend. She died on July 16.
Visitation services are from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at TowersFuneral Home, located at 2681 Long Beach Road. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 29, at 9:45 a.m. at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Cathedral in Rockville Centre.
A GoFundMe page established to support Randazzo’s teenage daughters — Ava and twins Briana and Brooke — has raised more than $45,000. Ava graduated from high school in June and is enrolled in college this fall, the fundraising page reported, while Brian and Brooke will soon turn 16.
“She was beginning to live her best life,” wrote family friend Stefanie Kiernan, who established the GoFundMe effort. “She took her family on an amazing vacation. The first real vacation they shared.”
So far, 377 donations have poured into the fundraiser, which set a $50,000 goal.
“The family is in shock and these beautiful girls need your help,” Kiernan said. “Thank you so much to everyone for the outpouring love and support. Each one of you have made a lasting impact on Ava, Briana and Brooke.”
