Services for longtime North Babylon community leader Anthony J. Tatti, 67

|

Anthony J. Tatti, a longtime advocate for recreational and educational youth programs in North Babylon, died on Wednesday, Feb. 3. He was 67.

Tatti ran youth programs in the area for over 45 years. That includes helping get the North Babylon Teen Center built in 2003 while serving as the executive director of North Babylon Community Youth Services, a non-profit organization that is housed there.

Last year, the Town of Babylon dedicated the naming of the facility in Tatti’s honor.

Here are words from the North Babylon Community Youth Services on the passing of the lifelong North Babylon resident.

“His efforts and dedication to creating youth services for the children of North Babylon, made him stand out as an extraordinary community leader,” reads a post on the organization’s Facebook page. “Even though he is gone, he will never be forgotten and NBCYS will continue to carry on his legacy.”

Below are the details of the funeral services.

Visitation: Sunday, Feb. 7, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. at Mangano Family Funeral Home, Inc., located 1701 Deer Park Ave., Deer Park, NY 11729.

On Monday, Feb. 8, at 11 a.m. the NBCYS is inviting the community to gather outside the youth center for a final farewell.

“We are asking everyone to gather around the outside of the Youth Center or at the center of the park as the funeral procession passes by and takes Tony to his final resting place at St. Charles Cemetery,” the center wrote on Facebook. “The Youth Center is a place where Tony’s dedication and commitment to the youth of North Babylon will be forever remembered.”
