Services for Robert Koppenhoefer, 82, longtime Grumman employee of Blue Point

Robert Koppenhoefer, a Blue Point resident and a Sayville High School graduate who worked for more than 35 years at Grumman Aerospace, died on Saturday, March 5. He was 82.

Koppenhoefer grew up in Sayville and went to work for Grumman after graduating from Sayville high School. Following his retirement from Grumman, Koppenhoefer owned and operated Quality Craftmanship for more than 20 years.

An avid fisherman and boater, Koppenhoefer had previously lived in Oakdale.

He is survived by his wife Kathleen; his son Keith of Oakdale; step-son Matthew Boeckel and his wife Nicole of Blue Point; and three grandchildren, Jamie, Dillon and Ava. He was predeceased by his step-son Jamie Boeckel in 2002.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, March 10, from 2-4:30 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home, 683 Montauk Highway in Bayport.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 11, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Snow Roman Catholic Church in Blue Point.

The family has invited all to join them at a luncheon at the Snapper Inn in Oakdale at noon on Friday, March 11.
