Shabby to Chic has made the move to Deer Park Avenue.
The company was founded in 2009 by career interior designer Lucia Provenzano on East Main Street in Babylon Village.
After all those years of selling antiques and home decor on Main Street, Provenzano has officially opened up her new store at 59 Deer Park Avenue.
“I love the new location,” she told GreaterBabylon last week. “My neighbors are great and I have seen people I’ve never seen before.”
Provenzano left her interior design career to launch Shabby to Chic mostly for her love of re-inventing items.
“I look at something and I see it in a different way than anybody else does,” said the West Bay Shore resident. “I’ll take something that is broken, reupholster it, and give it new life.”
In addition to selling these transformed items, she also teaches people how do it themselves with her chalk painting classes.
“I always painted furniture because I don’t like darkness,” she said. “I wanted to make things beachy and romantic.”
After setting up an appointment with her, the Shabby to Chic owner will show you different techniques involved with painting the desired items.
“It is cost effective across the board, it’s eco-friendly, and easy to use,” she said. “You can take stuff that has been sitting in grandma’s house and make it beautiful.”
