|

The rapidly growing Shah’s Halal is staking a claim in downtown Bay Shore.

The windows at the old Blast from the Past building at Main Street and Smith Avenue have been all papered up, announcing halal food will be coming soon.

This will be a first halal spot in downtown Bay Shore.

Shah’s Halal Food is a rapidly expanding chain, founded by Shafiq Mashriqi, who purchased the Medford property in 2020. Mashriqi also owns other Shah’s locations and oversees the brand’s franchising operations.

The chain operates more than 75 locations across the United States, and dozens more in England and Sweden.

On Long Island alone, Shah’s Halal Food boasts 20 locations. The nearest Shah’s Halal locations to Bay Shore are currently in Lindenhurst, Hauppauge and Commack.

The brand opened its first brick-and-mortar establishment in 2016, in Hicksville.

Greater Long Island has reached out to representatives for Shah’s Halal Bay Shore for additional details.

Blast from the Past, which sells vintage toys, video game and more, moved from 125 W Main St. in December to a much larger location on East Main Street, next to where Buttermilk’s Kitchen is being built and is expected to open early this year.
