Two sisters from Suffolk County have shared more than most siblings do.
Kristin Cronin of Babylon and Jessica Lampert of Commack both got engaged and married within months from each other. They had their firstborns in the same year.
And on Wednesday, each of their second children were born just hours apart.
And at the same hospital.
And from the same doctor.
“It makes it easier to have someone to go through it with,” said Lampert.
“There were a lot of hormones [in the room],” said a laughing Cronin, 34, as the two sat together at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip on Friday.
The two siblings had no plans of having their little bundles of joy together.
“It was pure coincidence,” Cronin said.
Of the two, Lampert, who just turned 30 on Thursday, July 20, said she was the first to learn she was pregnant.
“I found out about two weeks before she did,” said Lampert. “And then we found out on her birthday, actually, that she was pregnant, on Thanksgiving.”
Both were excited when they found out they had the same due date, because their first children (pictured below) get along swimmingly.
“We thought it was awesome,” said Lampert. “It wasn’t something you can really ever plan to do.”
Both Lampert and Cronin planned July 19 for their C-section births.
Between 8:15 a.m. and 10:40 a.m. on Wednesday morning, the two newborns were added to the growing extended family.
Lampert had a girl, Blake Kay, at 6 pounds, 13 ounces, while Cronin had a boy, Justin Paul, who was 8 pounds, 9 ounces.
OB-GYN Dr. Athanasios Antoniadis delivered both children, and actually delivered their firstsborns — as well as other babies in the family.
“As an OB-GYN you have long hours and times like this are what makes it special,” said Dr. Antoniadis, of West Islip. “I’m just happy I could share in this wonderful event with two beautiful families.”
Lampert and Cronin both asked their brother, James Darcy, to be the godfather of their children.
“We are getting used to doing everything together,” Cronin said.
