Slice of Bay Shore announces its closure; chef to takeover with new concept

|

The owners of The Slice of Bay Shore announced today they are closing their doors after three years on the town’s Main Street.

Giovanni “John” Digirolamo launched the pizza place in 2018 after cultivating his fandom through a lifetime of serving up pizzas with smiles at Mama Santina’s Pizza in neighboring Brightwaters and elsewhere.

Starting tomorrow, the pizzeria at 298 West Main St. will remain open with a limited menu, no delivery service, and limited seating.

They will stay open for a few more weeks so customers can use any gift cards they may have and to say their final goodbyes.

“The family we created within our staff to the friendships we’ve built with our customers is what we are most proud of,” the restaurant’s team wrote on Facebook. “It’s difficult when a job becomes a lifestyle that you have fallen in love with, yet need to say goodbye to.”

Chef Michael Liebman plans to take over the space and reopen it with a “bold” new concept sometime in the late fall.
