Smith Haven Mall is set for a major transformation, and two big-name retailers are part of the plan.
As part of a multi-million-dollar redevelopment, the mall’s owner, Simon Property Group Inc., has announced that global fashion retailer Zara will open its easternmost Long Island location at the mall. Additionally, kitchenware favorite Sur La Table will be making a return.
A big win for fashion shoppers

Zara, the internationally recognized fashion brand known for its trendy clothing, will be opening a store in the center of Smith Haven Mall, with an expected debut in 2026, according to Simon. The retailer currently has two other locations on Long Island —one at Walt Whitman Shops in Huntington Station and another at Roosevelt Field Mall in Uniondale.
Founded in 1985 and based in Spain, Zara has grown into one of the largest clothing brands in the world, operating over 2,000 stores globally.
The clothing store sells items for men, women and children.
Sur La Table’s comeback

Meanwhile, on the western end of the mall, Sur La Table is making its return after closing its previous location in 2020 when its parent company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The high-end kitchenware retailer, now owned by Marquee Brands and CSC Generation, has been in expansion mode, reopening several locations across the country.
The store is slated to reopen at Smith Haven Mall sometime this upcoming fall.
Known for its wide selection of cookware, utensils, and small appliances, Sur La Table also offers in-store cooking classes — a popular draw for home chefs looking to sharpen their skills.
