Smithtown names a new athletic director

The Smithtown Central School District has appointed Jason Lambert as the large district’s next coordinator of physical education, health, athletics and nurses.

A physical education teacher at Tackan Elementary School, Lambert has taught in Smithtown for nearly two decades. Additionally, he has been a highly successful lacrosse coach at Smithtown East High School for 11 years, elevating the program to national prominence.

Lambert has also coached football and lacrosse at Great Hollow, and in 2014 was named Newsday Suffolk County Coach of the Year.

Lambert succeeds Pat Smith, who served as the athletic director for 19 years.
