Southside Hospital is getting a brand new lobby.
Since July 23, the Bay Shore hospital has shut down its main entrance for its six-week renovation project.
“The expanded lobby will include several visitor-friendly amenities, from a to-go food station to gift shop and cell phone charging area,” said the hospital’s spokesperson.
In addition, Southside’s new spacious design also includes security enchantments by adding turnstiles where ID badges will be needed to enter the building.
During construction, all visitors are directed to enter the west side of the hospital, near the Bohlsen Family Emergency Department. Also, the front desk has been temporarily moved to the pediatric emergency department nurses’ station.
Over the course of the project, Vivo Pharmacy will remain open and can be accessed through the hospital’s radiology department.

Valet parking will still be available weekdays from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. and weekends from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m while the new lobby is being built.
