Time: 02:00 pm - 06:00 pm
220 N. Main St., Sayville, NY
It may be Sayville Bait & Tackle’s first annual Oktoberfest Party. But it’s hardly amateur hour for the popular North Main Street joint.
That’s because the folks throwing this brew ha ha from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16, are the same party planners who have admirably hosted T.J. Finley’s annual Oktoberfest bash in Bay Shore for the past 15 years.
A $25 ticket gets you an official Oktoberfest stein, one free stein-full of beer, and a delicious giant Bavarian pretzel. The event, taking place in the parking lot of the bar and restaurant, will feature live music, with the sounds of Sayville’s own BUOY 34 band helping to set the tone.
And what would an Oktoberfest party be without a steinholding contest, a traditional Bavarian strength contest involving competitors each holding a full one-liter beer stein out in front of their bodies with a straight arm, parallel to the ground. The winner is the last person standing with good form.
Sayville Bait & Tackle will declare winners in men’s and women’s categories. The contest starts at 5 p.m.
Oktoberfest fans are encouraged to purchase tickets to the event in advance, to guarantee that they’ll receive a stein.
