The Smithtown-Hauppauge Bulls hockey team, in collaboration with the Marty Lyons Foundation and Long Island Hockey Co., is spreading holiday cheer this year with a heartwarming “Wish Skate” event.
The event is set for Monday, Dec. 23, at The Rinx in Hauppauge and aims to raise funds for a custom adaptive mobility bike for a special child with disabilities.
The recipient, Finn, is a 4-year-old boy from Middletown, N.J., who is battling a rare and life-threatening genetic and neurological disorder. Thanks to the community’s generosity, Finn will soon receive a custom NJ Devils-themed adaptive bike, allowing him to participate in outdoor activities alongside his peers.
During the “Wish Skate,” Finn will be presented with his bike, fulfilling his Christmas wish. This heartwarming moment will be the culmination of a dedicated fundraising effort led by the team and its supporters.
“Please consider supporting their efforts by way of contributing an item, service or simple contribution, said Sandra White, executive director of the Marty Lyons Foundation, which has granted over 8,500 wishes since its inception more than 42 years ago.
The event will feature various fundraising activities, including:
- Custom Smithtown Bulls game jerseys created for Finn’s family
- Team-branded merchandise, such as shirts, pucks, and helmet decals
- Exciting raffle prizes, including a brand-new pair of skates donated by CCM
- Free gifts for the first 50 attendees
- Support from local vendors to create a festive and memorable experience
