The power of words will be on full display as the Write, Rhyme and Recite Collective returns, giving students a platform to explore literacy, creativity and spoken word through a dynamic poetry slam competition.
The annual event has already awarded more than $20,000 in scholarships, helping uplift young voices while encouraging artistic expression and confidence on stage.
But it’s more than just a competition.
Attendees can also expect performances from established spoken word artists, along with a panel discussion focused on the impact of storytelling and creative expression in today’s world.
The event has also become a space to recognize community change-makers, with past honorees including Dafny J. Irizarry of the Long Island Latino Teachers Association, Jacob Dixon of Choice for All and Jose Tutiven of Colored Colors.
