Stony Brook postpones fall sports programs

|

All of Stony Brook University’s fall sports will be pushed back indefinitely.

The university made the announcement on Friday.

This means no football, soccer, field hockey, volleyball, cross-country, tennis, or swimming next month.

“The decision to postpone fall sports was not an easy one but our student-athletes deserve the best possible experience,” said Stony Brook athletic director Shawn Heilbron.

As of now, SBU still plans to have its basketball program start on time in November.

Additionally, Hofstra University also suspended competition for its fall programs.

Long Island University, Long Island’s third Division I athletic program, said on July 9 it was aiming at having its fall sports season begin on Sept. 10. Visit LIU’s social media to keep updated on the school’s situation.
