A suspended Suffolk County cop — already facing a bevy of charges related to an alleged prostitution ring— has been indicted for allegedly sexually assaulting two women he met through online dating apps.
George Trimigliozzi, 56, of Islip, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges of first-degree sexual abuse, third-degree rape and second-degree unlawful imprisonment.
“These allegations are truly disturbing,” Suffolk District Attorney Raymond Tierney said. “Police officers swear an oath to protect us. I will use my office to protect everyone equally, without fear or favor.”
The first incident occurred in May 2021, after Trimigliozzi met a woman — identified as Jane Doe #1 — on a dating website, prosecutors said.
Authorities said the two went on a date in Patchogue on May 14, 2021, after which Trimigliozzi asked the woman to sit in his car to continue talking. Trusting him because of his position as a police officer, the woman agreed, prosecutors said.
Once inside the vehicle, Trimigliozzi allegedly moved to the passenger seat and forcibly subjected Jane Doe #1 to unwanted sexual contact, Tierney said. At one point, the woman attempted to escape by opening the passenger-side door, but prosecutors allege Trimigliozzi leaned over, closed it, and blocked her path.
A second alleged assault occurred more than a year later, in June 2022, following another online connection. On June 10, 2022, Trimigliozzi picked up a woman identified by prosecutors as Jane Doe #2 on his motorcycle for a date in Hampton Bays.
After the date, when Jane Doe #2 invited Trimigliozzi inside her apartment out of concern that he had consumed too much alcohol, the defendant reportedly asked for a tour of the apartment, and then allegedly forced the woman onto her bed and engaged in non-consensual sexual intercourse, prosecutors said.
Suffolk County Judge Justice Timothy Mazzei ordered Trimigliozzi held on $50,000 cash, $100,000 bond, or $1 million partially secured bond. Trimigliozzi, who faces up to seven years in prison if convicted of the most serious charge, is due back in court on May 22.
Trimigliozzi’s attorney William Keahon was not immediately available for comment. The officer is currently suspended from the police force without pay.
According to previous reports, Keon stated in court that Trimigliozzi had been named “cop of the month” six times.
Trimigliozzi’s latest indictment marks the second criminal case against the suspended officer. In October, he pleaded not guilty charges that included enterprise corruption, promoting prostitution, and official misconduct, for allegedly operating brothels and managing sex workers while on the force.
That case remains pending, Tierney’s office said.
The district attorney’s office encouraged anyone who believes they may have been victimized by Trimigliozzi to come forward and contact the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office at 631.853.4626.
