Suffolk cops, Islip tow away 13 illegally parked cars in Brentwood

|

Score one for the street sweepers.

A joint crackdown by Suffolk County Police and Town of Islip Public Safety officers cleared more than a dozen illegally parked vehicles from Suffolk Avenue in Brentwood on Friday.

Acting on community complaints and a known history of violations along the busy stretch, officials impounded 13 vehicles that lacked license plates. One of the cars was blocking a fire hydrant.

Officers wrote out multiple no-parking zone violations.

Another 11 vehicles were removed voluntarily by their owners.

Authorities said all vehicles must display license plates and follow local parking laws to avoid enforcement or impoundment. To report illegally parked vehicles, police said residents can call 631.852.COPS.
