Nationally ranked in three key adult specialties, Huntington Hospital is the best hospital in Suffolk County, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2024-2025 Best Hospitals Rankings.
The Northwell Health facility is ranked No. 26 in the country in diabetes and endocrinology, No. 30 in pulmonary and lung surgery and No. 31 in geriatrics, states the report that was released this week. The hospital is ranked 11th best in New York state.
Now in its 35th year, Best Hospitals evaluated nearly 5,000 hospitals in its latest ranking, covering more than 30 medical and surgical services. To be nationally ranked in a specialty, a hospital must excel in caring for the sickest, most medically complex patients.
Huntington Hospital has been a member of Northwell Health since 1994. The affiliation allowed the hospital to expand its services and access the resources and expertise available through the regional health system.
The high ranking from U.S. News is the latest healthcare accolade for Huntington Hospital. In May, the facility received an “A” safety grade in The Leapfrog Group’s spring 2024 Hospital Safety Grades.
Following closely behind Huntington in U.S. News’ ranking of best Suffolk hospitals is Stony Brook University Hospital and Northwell’s South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, ranked Nos. 12 and 13 in New York, respectively. Rounding out the four Suffolk hospitals ranked among the state’s top 30 is Northwell’s Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead at No. 29.
