Summer food crawl coming to Port Jefferson

|

Anyone interested in exploring Port Jefferson’s dinner and desert hot spots will have the perfect opportunity next Thursday.

The Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce is hosting a summer food crawl all around down port on Aug 19. It is the group’s first fundraising effort in nearly two years, according to the director of operations Barbara Ransome.

For $25, guests can visit 15 eateries to eat and drink the various samples offered. On the menu are pigs in a blanket from Gourmet Burger Bistro, Asian glaze duck wings from Nantuckets and full-bodied Tonkotsu Pork Soup from Slurp Ramen.

For dessert, attendees can try banana pudding from Torte Jeff Pie Co. and a mini ice cream sundae from Kilwins.

The full list of participants can be found here.

The event, running from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., will be “cool, cold, and smooth,” according to the chamber’s materials promoting the event.

“All food stations will be set up outside,” Ransome said. “You can walk to anyone in any order as you choose, all in lower Port Jefferson.”

Tickets are good for one sample at each of the 15 vendors and are available for purchase through Eventbrite and at the chamber office at 118 West Broadway Avenue. Those who purchase tickets online must use their Eventbrite receipt to pick up their official tickets at the chamber office. Venders will only accept and stamp the tickets from the office.

The chamber is prepared to use Aug. 26 as a rain date for the event and that there will be no refunds issued.

Ransome said approximately 150 have already been sold, and there are plenty more still on sale. She added that the event was planned for a Thursday outdoors with COIVD-19-safety in mind.

“The goal is to have fun.”
