Support pours in for families of Plainedge grads killed in Bethpage wreck

|

A GoFundMe campaign launched to support the families of three young men killed in a fiery Mother’s Day crash in Bethpage has surpassed $37,000 in donations from more than 450 contributors.

The fundraiser was organized by Fox 5 reporter Briella Tomassetti, whose younger brother was close friends with the victims: Gino Vicale of Seaford, Vincent Cavaliere of Bethpage, and Nicholas Rivera of Glendale.

All three were 20 years old and graduates of Plainedge High School. They were killed early May 11 when their 2022 Dodge Durango struck a tree on Stymus Avenue near Carol Drive and burst into flames, Nassau County police said.

Tomassetti described the young men as having “such bright futures and their whole lives ahead of them.”

She noted that Vicale was known as the class clown, Cavaliere was a standout football player, and Rivera was passionate about fitness and aspiring to start an MMA career.

The funds raised are intended to assist the families with funeral and burial expenses, with the total amount to be split evenly among them, Tomasetti said.
