Swell Taco seeks approvals to expand Babylon Village location

|

The perpetually crowded Swell Taco in Babylon is looking to expand its dining room.

Swell’s ownership is seeking approvals from the Village Board to add 11 more seats to the popular Tex-Mex restaurant off Deer Park Avenue.

At Tuesday’s board meeting, co-owner Brooke Jankow explained that a deal with her new landlord helped bring forth the opportunity of expansion.

“He had offered us an office space within the building at a reasonable rate, therefore, that allows us to take what is presently our office space and accommodate more seats,” she said.

If approved, the current office on the main floor would be opened up to make room for a bench and tables.

The extra space will also allow Swell to replace some existing tables with larger tables.

“We have two-top tables and will be moving them into four-top,” said Jankow.

Overall, Swell Taco would then have 18 tables total in its dining room.

During construction, Swell Taco could be closed a “few days,” according to Jankow.

The board reserved its decision to vote for a later date.
