The musical that helped set off the Dancing with the Stars craze opens Wednesday, June 7, at The Gateway in Bellport Village and runs through June 24.
Swing! The Musical features high-energy dancing, singing and acrobatics. (Check out the above video from the 2000 Tony Awards.)
The Gateway describes the show as an all-singing, all-dancing evening of entertainment that features a mix of new and classic songs and over 30 dance numbers – some comic, some romantic, come nostalgic, some sexy.
Swing! ran on Broadway at the St. James Theater from 1999-2001.
In addition to several original songs, Swing! features classic Duke Ellington, “Count” Basie and Benny Goodman hits like “It Don’t Mean a Thing,” “Stompin’ at the Savoy,” and “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.”
