Tentative dates announced for Bay Shore’s ‘Alive by the Bay’ 2018

|

Last summer’s first-ever Alive by the Bay festivals were a big hit in downtown Bay Shore, and things will be looking alive again for Summer 2018.

The Bay Shore Restaurant Committee, part of the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Bay Shore, has announced tentative dates for the Alive After Five-inspired street festivals.

Those dates are July 10, July 24, Aug. 7 and Aug. 21, pending Islip Town Board permit approvals. The single major change for the second seasons of Alive by the Bay is all the festivals will be held on Tuesdays. Last year, the festivals were all held on Wednesdays.

“While we had hoped to stay Wednesday, we did not want to conflict with the long-running symphonic band concert series that takes place on Wednesdays in July,” said committee member Mike McElwee. “After taking traffic to the ferries and other events into the downtown into consideration, we felt that Tuesday was the best day to showcase everything that Bay Shore has to offer.

“We’re hoping to make Tuesday everyone’s favorite day in the summer.”
