The annual Patchogue Christmas Holiday Boat Parade will float again this November along the Patchogue River.
The event is run by the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce and the Patchogue Riverfront Committee. This year’s theme is “A Jimmy Buffett Christmas,” paying homage to the late great singer and Long Islander who recently passed away.
Festivities kick off on Saturday, Nov. 18, with a preview of the decorated boats docked at several riverfront restaurants from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The parade is on Sunday, Nov. 19, at 5 p.m.
During the preview on Saturday, visitors can check out the boats up close and vote for their favorites.
On Sunday, the winner receives the People’s Choice Award.
There are plenty of free public viewing spots along the Patchogue River to watch boats sail in from the Great South Bay, including Sandspit Marina at the Davis Park Ferry Terminal and the Fire Island National Seashore Watch Hill Ferry Terminal, as well as all the waterfront restaurants — Baja Boathouse, Harbor Crab Co., The Oar Steak & Seafood Grille and Drift 82.
