The Boulton Center’s new lobby to host local musicians in Bay Shore

|

The YMCA Boulton Center for the Performing Arts is using its new and improved lobby to help support local artists.

Through “Locals Live in the Lobby,” the theater’s newly renovated lobby in Bay Shore will be hosting musicians prior to shows.

“My goal is to present new, upcoming local artists to the people who are coming to our shows,” said the center’s director, Michele Rizzo-Berg.

Since the lobby was renovated in January, the Boulton Center has brought in Bay Shore native and artist Bobby Deutsch, also known as Bobby Digital, to perform.

“People loved it; they really enjoyed Bobby,” said Rizzo-Berg.

Sam Hoyos from Playing Dead will be performing next in the lobby on Friday, Feb. 23, before the Rhett Miller and Evan Felker show.

The Boulton Center has an open call for those looking to play in the lobby. Artists will perfortm for an hour before the center’s show opens, and can play cover or original music.
