The opening of Whalers Restaurant is celebrated in Bay Shore

|

The new Whalers Restaurant in Bay Shore hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday, celebrating the triumphant return of food and fun to the west side of the Maple Avenue parking peninsula.

“The reception has been amazing!” said Whalers co-owner Nikki Kappus. “Everyone has been chomping at the bit for us to open all summer.”

As previously reported, Whalers is filling in the shoes of the old Molly Malone’s building, which had been vacant for a few years.

And the structure underwent an extensive overhaul.

Bay Shore and Islip Town leaders were also on hand Wednesday afternoon to mark the achievement.

“To see this building come to life better than it ever was, really it is so beautiful,” said Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter.
