The Tap Room offers 50% discount to all hospitality/ healthcare workers

|

As The Tap Room — and many other local restaurants and bars — experience hardship due to the spread of the coronavirus, it’s not stopping the bar/restaurant from helping those in need.

That’s why the owners of The Tap Room announced they will be offering a 50% discount to all hospitality and healthcare employees.

The deal is available at all Tap Rooms — there are locations in Bay Shore, Patchogue and Massapequa Park.

“It’s scary to think they can be out of work for weeks, if not months, without a paycheck coming in,” said Tap Room co-owner James Bonanno. “It’s a small thing that we are doing but we hope it helps in some way.”

As hospitals become filled with COVID-19 patients, The Tap Room team wanted to extend the deal to medical workers too.

“We wanted to help those who are working tirelessly day and night and that are probably not sleeping,” said Bonanno.

While dining is off the table because of statewide restrictions, The Tap Room is offering a curbside menu. The eatery’s food and drinks are also available via Uber Eats and Door Dash, but the owners urge diners to pick up their orders because of high fees associated with the delivery service.

“Picking up an order with dramatically help our restaurant stay in business as we are charged fees equaling 30% of the sale,” said the Tap Room owners.

As far as tips go, all of that money collected will be distributed to laid-off staff.

“Tips are being pooled and distributed to employees that are out of work,” said Bonanno.
