The third annual Run for the Shamrocks 5K is all set in Bay Shore for March 9.
The race is hosted by The Lakehouse restaurant‘s owners who raise money to offset tuition costs for families in need looking to send their kids to St. Patrick School.
“It is important to me,” said Eileen Connors, whose husband and chef, Matt, went to St. Patrick’s. “I am 1 of 10 children. I grew up out east and can honestly say that without the support of that community and school, I would not have had the opportunities that I did.”
what to know
This run starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, at St. Patrick School. It winds through beautiful downtown Bay Shore and finishes back at the school — located at 9 Clinton Avenue.
Main Street itself gets closed around 8:45 p.m. and then re-opens at 10 a.m., according to Connors.
Signups start at 7:30 a.m. It’s $25 to race, though the price jumped to $30 at midnight March 1. It’s $20 for kids under 12. The first 300 entries are guaranteed a race day shirt.
Awards will be given for top qualifiers.
