The Y Boulton Center announces fall schedule

|

The YMCA Boulton Center for the Performing Arts has just announced its fall lineup in downtown Bay Shore, and there is plenty of varieties to choose from classical reggae music to informative talks.

Things kick off Saturday night, Sept. 7, with The Skakelites, Jamaica’s premier ska band since 1964. The group is known for backing popular artists like Bob Marley, Toots and The Maytals, and Alton Ellis.

“Their infectious brand of bluesy, jazzy ska spread like wildfire around the island and spawned the entire genres of ska, rocksteady, reggae, dub, two-tone, and third-wave ska,” said Michele Rizzo‑Berg, center director of the Y Boulton Center.

Some new programming for this year’s line up includes Be More Persuasive, a presentation by on-air media talent Leslie Gold aka “The Radiochick” on persuasive communications on Wednesday, Sept. 25; as well as Behind the Lens, a live show that features celebrated music photographers Henry Diltz and Mick Rock talking about the stories behind their most iconic shots on Friday, Oct. 11.

Returning acts include Davy Knowles, The Subdudes, Bill Kirchen, Gary Hoey, and beloved children’s TV stars Carole and Paula from The Magic Garden.

“Don’t miss your chance to see these artists in a small, intimate setting,” said Rizzo‑Berg.
