The Town of Islip has been circulating information about the do’s and don’t of recycling. Included in those public service announcements are lists of accepted metals, glass, plastics and papers.
There’s also a list of non-recyclable items, such as stryofoam. (Full lists below.)
And there’s one huge don’t: No plastic bags.
Plastic bags cannot be recycled and it’s been widely reported here and across the U.S. that such bags that make it into recycling bins can damage recycling equipment.
