These were the five largest GoFundMe campaigns on Long Island in 2023

When it comes to supporting causes, New York has been ranked as one of the top states in the country, with tons of generosity coming from Long Island.

GoFundMe, the crowdfunding platform used to raise money for organizations and individuals, released its fundraising numbers for 2023. Out of all 50 states, New York was ranked No. 10 as the most giving, according to the site’s records.

The Empire State had several campaigns that raised well over $100,000, including five in New York City and five on Long Island.

Here were the five biggest GoFundMe fundraisers on the island:

  1. Roslyn: Ethan Falkowitz, a beautiful soul taken too soon – $333,614
  2. Roslyn: In memory of Drew Hassenbein, a true champion – $332,686
  3. West Islip: Matthew Kreamer & Kyle Dilegame – $222,297
  4. Commack: Matthew Conte’s Family – $168,784
  5. Massapequa: Joseph Emmanuel Pellettiere – $154,443

Here were the top five GoFundMe’s organized in NYC:

  1. Help the People of Lahaina and West Maui – $2,599,902
  2. MCC: Sheikh Abdallah Kamel Family Fund – $387,437
  3. Yu & Me Books Recovery Fund – $369,565
  4. Help the Victims of Hammer Attack at Sunset Park – $221,994
  5. Attacked Good Samaritan of NYC Subway Needs Help – $101,361
