Walk into BMW Pharmacy in Patchogue and you might think you’ve stepped into a boutique or cocktail lounge — not your neighborhood pharmacy.
“I wanted it to be something people have never seen before,” said owner Brianne Weiss, a North Babylon native who now lives in Patchogue. “People walk by at night and are confused by what the place is.”
Yes, Weiss will fill your prescriptions. But BMW — named for its pillars of beauty, medicine, and wellness — is far more than your typical drugstore. The 3,000-square-foot space offers functional medicine, weight loss, hormone programs, red light therapy, and even a full retail area with candles and supplements.
“I’m creating a model that doesn’t exist anywhere else in the country,” Weiss said.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Weiss’s path to pharmacy began with a life-changing diagnosis at age 11: ITP, a rare blood disorder that causes the body to destroy its own platelets.
“I could have bled out at any moment,” she said. “That experience made me want to go into medicine.”
Despite her fear of needles, Weiss pursued pharmacy as a way to help others. After a short detour in pharmaceutical sales, Weiss earned her doctorate in 2019.
She worked in both independent and chain pharmacies but became disillusioned by the pace and pressure of corporate environments.
“Pharmacists weren’t pharmacists anymore — they were just being pushed to go faster and faster,” she said. “I saw dangerous things happening, and when I spoke up, I got a target on my back.”
That’s when Weiss knew she had to open her own place — one built on care, not quotas.
She started developing her business in 2020, building out a 50-page plan and hiring consultants who specialize in independent pharmacy startups. She landed on her Patchogue location and began transforming the empty space into something totally new.
“It was just an empty box,” she said. “I tore out the ceiling, waited a month for the right floors — I had a vision, and I wasn’t going to settle.”
IF YOU GO

BMW Pharmacy officially opened this past September, at 8 West Main St. in Patchogue.
Here’s what you’ll find:
- A boutique-style pharmacy: Weiss offers full prescription services and specialized care like vaccine administration, chronic disease consults, weight loss support, and medication reviews. “I call it personal care,” she said.
- Wellness rooms: Rooms for clinical care, functional medicine, red light therapy, massage and compression therapy, innovative 3D body composition scale called ShapeScale (first location in Suffolk county to have one), with hopes to add on an esthetician in the near future
- Retail therapy: The front area feels more like a beauty store, with a wellness wall, skincare products, candles, and makeup. “It’s like shopping meets self-care,” Weiss said.
- A mission-driven experience: “I gave up everything for this,” she said. “I want to bring people the pharmacy experience they deserve — and change the profession in the process.”
“Pharmacy and healthcare are broken industries, but at BMW Pharmacy, patient care, safety, and health come first,” said Weiss. “We can’t wait to help so many people in the community.”
