Toys R Us is making a comeback.
Macy’s recently partnered with WHP Global to bring back the beloved Toys R Us brand to several Macy’s stores across the United States, just in time for this holiday season.
The rollout for these in-store shops began at the end of last month and continues through Oct. 15.
Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City is on the list of Macy’s Toys R Us flagship stores.
“Macy’s cannot wait to bring the Toys R Us experience to life in our stores,” said Nata Dvir, Macy’s chief merchandising officer. “We hope Toys R Us kids of all ages discover the joy of exploration and play within our shops and families create special memories together.”
Dvir continued to say “the customer response to our partnership with Toys R Us has been incredible and our toy business has seen tremendous growth.”
The Toys R Us pop-ups range from 1,000 to up to 10,000 square feet in size and are planned for locations in Atlanta, Chicago, Honolulu, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Franciso and other places.
The overall atmosphere and experience includes playful colored fixtures, hands-on demonstration tables for customers to interact with various toy assortments, and a life-size “Geoffrey on a Bench” for family photo-ops.
The footprint of the impacted stores may increase by an additional 500 to 3,000 square feet during the holiday season to offer a wider assortment of products.
From Oct. 15-23, all of the Macy’s stores with Toys R Us shops will host nine days of in-store events, which include family-friendly activities and daily giveaways from such brands as Barbie and LEGO.
