The Long Island Puerto Rican-Hispanic Day Parade returns to Brentwood on Sunday, June 1, bringing music, dance and cultural pride to Fifth Avenue.
Hosted by Teatro Yerbabruja, the 59th annual celebration runs from noon to 3 p.m. and will highlight this year’s theme: “No Sueltes Tu Bandera, Unidos Somos Más” — “Don’t Let Go of Your Flag, United We Are Stronger.”
Communities from across Long Island are expected to gather in Brentwood for the colorful display of heritage and unity. Brentwood schools Superintendent Wanda Ortiz-Rivera is the parade’s grand marshal.
Suffolk County Police advise that Fifth Avenue will be closed between Spur Drive North and Pine Aire Drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Motorists should plan ahead and use alternate routes.
