From the people who introduced the world to the now-ubiquitous cannoli dip platter, comes Italian sushi.
Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace has just announced its latest culinary mashup, blending Asian and Italian cuisine in an eye-pleasing presentation that has absolutely lit up social media, particularly TikTok and Instagram.
There, the chefs at Uncle G’s can be seen slicing and hand-rolling three different Italian sushi options:
- Fig, arugula and prosciutto
- Stracciatella, roasted red pepper and prosciutto
- Pesto, pepperoni and hot honey
“We rolled up your favorite Italian flavors in our fresh, store-made mozzarella!” Uncle G’s posted Friday. “Roll into Uncle G’s and pick up yours today!”
“I think I would die for one of these lol,” mused one Instagram user.
“OMG. is that cheese?!?!? yes pls,” wrote another.
The sushi offerings have been flying off the shelves since, an Uncle Giuseppe’s rep told Greater Long Island, making them somewhat hard to find as of now.
Indeed, GLI headed to the North Babylon location for some, well, more in-depth reporting, and the sushi was sold out.
The sushi is available for catering orders, the rep said.

Uncle Giuseppe’s, which started with a single unit in East Meadow and now operates 11 locations across New York and New Jersey, has been in expansion mode as of late.
Recent announcements include plans to take over a former Stop & Shop location in Greenvale, with a Bohemia location already in the works at Sayville Plaza, in the former Babies “R” Us space at 5181 Sunrise Highway.
That location should be open by late 2025.
The company also recently announced a seasonal expansion onto Fire Island.
