Connetquot alum returns home a U.S. Marine, surprises mom at school

Robert Biangazzo couldn’t wait to see his mom.

Back home last week for the first time since October and having finished boot camp in North Caroline, the new U.S. Marine — a 2020 Connetquot High School grad — went straight to the St. James Elementary School where his mom Melissa teaches kindergarten.

Check out this Smithtown Central School District photo of their tearful reunion.

Robert Biangazzo of Ronkonkoma was trained as a mortar man, and is now a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. A football player in high school, he will report to his Long Island unit each month, as well as two full weeks during the summer, while he pursues a college degree.
