The Babylon Town Board recently approved a $1.4 million federally funded revamping project at Venetian Shores Spray Park, located at Granada Parkway in Lindenhurst.
With amenities like their popular interactive spray park, picnic area, playground, food services, and more, the resident-only facility has entertained thousands of children since its opening in 2004.
According to the latest Board meeting minutes from Aug. 31, the Spray Deck at Venetian Park was an open-air facility for residents to go to during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Because the overhaul of the park is in the public interest, the board authorized the use of funds provided by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, according to the meeting agenda.
The $1.4 million in Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) will be used toward a new spray deck and UV system. Officials said construction will begin soon and that the project will likely be finished by next summer.
