Video: Suffolk deputy sheriff returns American flag that blew away during storm

|

Rookie Deputy Sheriff Devon Berg of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office was wrapping up a 16-hour double shift and on his way home when something caught his eye.

An American flag had blown away during the blizzard that nailed Long Island last Saturday weekend and landed under a tree.

Pix 11 News shared a video of Berg trekking through the deep snow to return the flag to its homeowner.

Berg told Pix 11 that at the moment, it just felt like the right thing to do.

“Deputy Sheriff Berg reminds us all that wearing the badge means more than just protecting our neighborhoods, it’s about serving and caring for our community,” the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook.
