Video Report: Sugared Up! and Mango Tango celebrated in Islip

|

Two new businesses unique to Islip’s historic Main Street area were celebrated this holiday week in the hamlet.

The candy shop Sugared Up! and Mango Tango, an Asian fusion restaurant, both opened in late summer. On Tuesday, they were treated to ribbon-cutting ceremonies by the Islip Chamber of Commerce.

“Islip, in its history, has never had a designated candy shop geared toward kids and adults; there’s a lot of fun stuff in there for all ages,” said the Islip chamber’s president, Doris Kennedy of Kennedy L.I. Realty Inc. of Bay Shore.

She also said Mango Tango is Main Street’s first Asian Fusion concept restaurant.

Kennedy hinted that more businesses “are forthcoming.”

Sugared Up! recently moved to a larger location, at 522 Main Street.
