Long Islanders are getting set to remember the life of legendary comic creator Stan Lee with a vigil this week.

The ceremony, presented by the Tri-State Stan Lee Fan Club, will be held on Thursday, Nov. 15, at 5 p.m., in Stony Brook’s Holiday Inn Express.

Lee, also a Long Island homeowner, was best known for creating iconic superheroes such as Spider-Man, X-Men, Hulk, Iron Man, and many more.

On Monday, the Marvel comic maker died at the age of 95 in Los Angeles, Calif., after being rushed to the hospital, according to reports.

“Stan Lee was a member of the Long Island family and a major part of my childhood,” said the fan club’s president, Charlie Ziegler.  “I fondly remember reading his comic books and imagining Stan Lee’s creations.”

In honoring his life, Ziegler, along with the hotel’s owner, John Tsunis, will be showing Lee’s inspired movies throughout the entire day.

Local Stony Brook leaders, Stony Brook University students, and other enthusiasts, will be attending the candlelit vigil decked out in superhero costumes.

Anyone who attends the tribute dressed in costume will receive complimentary entry, says Ziegler.

“He brought the superhero out in all of us,” said Ziegler.
