The owner of Vintage Wine Bar and Bistro has just announced the business is closing in Farmingdale after a nearly decade-long run.
The corner restaurant at Main and Front streets, just south of the railroad tracks, will close its doors on Monday, April 7.
It opened in November of 2015.
“It is with a heavy heart that I share the news that Vintage Wine Bar & Bistro will be closing its doors after nearly 10 years of serving this incredible community,” owner Jeff Rumman posted on the restaurant’s Instagram feed Monday.
In an earnest letter, he shared how the rising cost of good and services rising attributed to the difficult decision.
“Like so many restaurants in today’s economy we have faced skyrocketing food prices, higher labor costs, increasing rent and utility bills that seem to climb every month,” Rumman wrote.
Vintage’s sister restaurant down the street, High Tide Taco Bar, will remain open. Rumman wrote that he’s optimistic that he would be able to offer Vintage employees jobs at his taco spot.
“Even if it means I have to pay out of my own pocket to help my employees,” he wrote. “Unfortunately, I can only do so much.”
Rumman closed out his letter thanking the Farmingdale community, “Whether you celebrated a milestone with us, sipped a favorite wine, or simply enjoyed a meal in our space, you were part of the Vintage Family.”
