Wantagh’s new Posh Deli and Organic Mark is all about clean eating

Looking for a healthier spot to grab a bite? The newly opened Posh Deli and Organic Market in Wantagh might be your new go-to.

Organic ingredients? They’ve got them. Vegan options? Nearly two dozen. Locally sourced products? The shelves are stocked.

“We wanted to be different from everybody else,” co-owner Murad Assaedi tells Greater Long Island. “You can never go wrong having stuff that’s good for you, not bad for you.”

And it’s not just the food. Posh, which opened last month, offers 40 organic-fresh juices, more than 20 organic smoothies, and a large cooler filled with sugar-free, refrigerated drinks.

“I think this is the future. People want healthy, they want to feel better about what they eat,” said Assaedi.

Still craving something more traditional? Posh also serves deli sandwiches, burgers, and daily hot specials.

So far, the community feedback has been overwhelmingly positive — with one notable exception.

“A woman called the other day and ordered five sandwiches. She also asked for a Cherry Pepsi and a Coke. I told her we don’t carry those drinks. We have soda, but healthier options, stuff that’s better for you. Well she got mad and canceled the whole order. But that’s ok.”

Everyone else, Assaedi says, seems to be happy.
