Ward Melville football players turned to a different playbook this week to spread some holiday cheer.
Members of the high school’s football program brought coloring books and 90 boxes of crayons this week to young patients at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital. Freshman Hudson Philbrick designed the football-themed activity books, which include coloring pages, word searches and mazes.
“I’m really proud of Hudson for putting all this together and the rest of the players for pitching in,” football coach Chris Boltrek said.
“It’s always nice to see Ward Melville football players participate in community service, but particularly special when the work done off the field in that area is an endeavor like this one.”
Three Village Central School District administration and the board of education honored Philbrick at its Dec. 13 meeting for his generous efforts.
