This winter, Bay Shore School District launched the first all girl’s varsity wrestling team in New York.
But these efforts are much more than about making history.
“When they get on that mat, they’re all business,” says Bay Shore girl’s wrestling mom Marissa Peterson.
“They’re intense,” says athletic director Bob Panarello. “They want to win.”
Girl’s wrestling is fast becoming a popular sport across the U.S., and on Long Island and New York, Bay Shore is leading the way.
