A candlelight vigil for slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk drew thousands of people to Seaford on Saturday night.
The event, called Light up the Sky for Charlie, was organized by Kevin Smith, founder of The Loud Majority and an advisor to the New York Young Republican Club.
“Thousands of American patriots gathered together to celebrate the life of your friend, and leader, Charlie Kirk,” Smith later told Greater Long Island. “He may be gone but his movement will grow bigger and stronger than ever.”
The night was billed as “a solemn vigil for Charlie Kirk and his family,” following Kirk’s assassination Wednesday at Utah Valley University, where the youth organizer was hosting a speaking event for his Turning Point USA group.
Smith shared the below video to X at about 8:30 p.m.
The video shows a sea of people packed into the commuter lot at the Long Island Rail Road station in Seaford, off Sunrise Highway. They are seen holding candles and chanting ‘Charlie, Charlie, Charlie,” and “We are Charlie.”
Greater Long Island was not in attendance, but here is what people wrote under the video, which was posted by Smith.
“I cant believe the amount of people,” wrote one X user. “This is a bigger turnout than any of the MAGA rallies we did here.”
“Well done, Kevin; it was absolutely amazing,” wrote another
